I was watching the first video about DNS pre-resolution and Jim Roskind was talking about keeping the time the user waits down to a minimum. At that point TWC decided to timeout my connection and I was left waiting for the video to buffer.
100% accurate.
I worked at Circuit City for 5 years and can think of at least one employee name for each of these categories.

Awesome Google logo today. Reminds me of the days I would spend hours playing Command & Conquer: Red Alert.
My cat Moose has a particular addiction: canned food. I had to start feeding him the good stuff about 4 years ago. It was determined he didn’t drink enough water as he started getting regular (every 9 months) feline urinary tract infections.
Moose now gets a can at 8:00a and 9:30p everyday. Dry food is available to him throughout the day (I have heard arguments for and against this from many professionals and have decided it best to leave it out for him).
Mind you, Moose is quite chill about 22 hours a day. He is a large cat with the personality of a friendly dog. When he isn’t sleeping you can find him tearing up his scratching post, rubbing his face in his favorite catnip covered toy, or running proudly out of his litter box. However, the other 2 hours a day begin at the hours of 7:00a and 8:30p. This is when the thought of getting that can of food consume him. Daily he wakes me up between 6:30a and 7:00a thinking that maybe today would be the day I forget to feed him. At night beginning at 8:30p he knows no words other than “meow” (in the deepest tone you can think of; our douche bag neighbors must think we beat him) which I assume translates to “feed me or die”.
Well last night the joke was on him: Heather and I didn’t get home until after 10p and this morning I woke up at 6:00a! Time to go harass my sleeping cat!
Yesterday was the ceremony for Michael Jackson’s death. Every major media outlet covered it. People flew in from all corners of the globe to attend. Crowds gathered miles away, not being able to get anywhere near the Staples Center, just to say they were a part of history.
The media urged people to stay home if they didn’t have tickets. News anchors made it seem like the city was going to come to a grinding halt due to the surge of traffic. The streets were projected to be parking lots.
City officials did a fantastic job at proving them all wrong. My drive to and from work was a breeze. The commute took no longer than any other day and actually seemed lighter than usual. Maybe the media scared the people to stay home.
That was yesterday. Today was just a normal day. Nobody died. No celebrations. Just Wednesday July 8th, 2009. Traffic sucked.
Internet Brands’ CEO Bob Brisco says: Tough Problem? Sleep on it.
Many times I have fought off sleep because doing so meant walking away from a problem that was consuming me. Most of the time I just ended up making tiny mistakes over and over again that compounded into a bigger issue. At some point the work put into a project yields diminishing return.
My problem is I have a really hard time sleeping when a problem I can’t solve looms over me. I toss and turn over-thinking and ultimately get to my wits end. How does one walk away from a problem and clear their head enough to come back to it with the clairvoyance to overcome?
