Yesterday was the ceremony for Michael Jackson’s death. Every major media outlet covered it. People flew in from all corners of the globe to attend. Crowds gathered miles away, not being able to get anywhere near the Staples Center, just to say they were a part of history.
The media urged people to stay home if they didn’t have tickets. News anchors made it seem like the city was going to come to a grinding halt due to the surge of traffic. The streets were projected to be parking lots.
City officials did a fantastic job at proving them all wrong. My drive to and from work was a breeze. The commute took no longer than any other day and actually seemed lighter than usual. Maybe the media scared the people to stay home.
That was yesterday. Today was just a normal day. Nobody died. No celebrations. Just Wednesday July 8th, 2009. Traffic sucked.
